Roy Anderson Corp. earns national award of excellence

Roy Anderson Corp. in Gulfport won a national Excellence in Construction Pyramid Award from Associated Builders and Contractors in the federal government $10 million-$100 million category for its work on the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Laundry-Dietetics Building in Biloxi.

Representatives from the company accepted the award March 2 during ABC's 26th annual awards ceremony in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

"From start to finish, Roy Anderson Corp. demonstrated a commitment to innovation and high-quality construction in their work on Laundry-Dietetics Building, a commitment that is clearly evident in the finished product," said 2016 ABC National Chairman David Chapin, president of Willmar Electric Service, Lincoln, Neb.

This 81,000-square-foot building has a dietetics facility and a steamless laundry, the first of its kind built for the Department of Veterans Affairs. It operates on electricity and green power generated by thermal and photovoltaic energy sources.

The Excellence in Construction Awards program is the industry's leading competition and the award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer.
