December was merry for Coast sales tax numbers

People in South Mississippi spent more money on gifts and dining out in December, resulting in a jump of $361,000 in sales tax diversions to Coast cities. D'Iberville led the increase, up $160,000 over last year, and Gulfport also was strong with a $94,000 jump. Bay St. Louis, Moss Point and Pascagoula were down slightly from a year ago. This positive report comes after diversions decreased by $188,000 on the previous report for November sales.
