PASCAGOULA -- VT Halter Marine, a company of Vision Technologies Systems, has delivered the M/V Morton S. Bouchard Jr., the first of the two 6,000-hp, twin-screw articulated tug barge tugs, to Bouchard Transportation Co.

The tug was launched Oct. 29 at the Moss Point Marine shipyard. It is classed by ABS asA1 Ocean Towing, Dual Mode ATB, USCG Subchapter C and is equipped with an Intercon Coupler System.

This and the second ATB tug, the M/V Frederick E. Bouchard, comprise a two-vessel contract awarded to VT Halter Marine in 2014.

The second tug is being built at VT Halter's Moss Point yard and delivery is expected in June.

Both vessels will enter Bouchard Transportation's fleet service in New York.

"This delivery has special meaning to both VT Halter Marine and Bouchard," said Morton Bouchard III, president of Bouchard Transportation, "as the second tug that Bouchard ever built with Halter Marine, back in 1972, was the original tug Morton Bouchard Jr. (renamed the Bouchard Boys)."
