Plans call for new athletic building at Biloxi High

Biloxi's Development Review Committee reviewed site plans this week for a new athletic building at Biloxi High School and a car dealership for Pass Road.

Community Development Director Jerry Creel said in his weekly update site clearing and grading have begun at the new Biloxi Junior High School on Jam Lane, and at the new Woody's Roadside Grill on Beach Boulevard.

Building permits were issued for French Colonial Memorial Garden on the Moran site next to the Biloxi Visitors Center, and for Taco Sombrero at 2595 Pass Road.

Permits also were issued to build two single-family houses. A temporary certificate of occupancy was issued for the new medical office for Michael Diaz at 936 Tommy Munro Drive, which should be completed next week.

Creel said 53 building permits were issued this week with a construction valuation of $543,800. Building plans are being reviewed for The Dog House, a new pet-care facility on Hopkins Boulevard north of Howard Avenue, and for four new single-family houses. Licenses were issued for eight new businesses.
