Newk's online academy wins technology award
Newk's Eatery's Online Academy, an employee-education platform, was one of three winners in the Crew-Facing Tech category in QSR Magazine's 2016 Applied Technology Awards.
QSR Magazine commended the fast-casual restaurant brand, which has locations in D'Iberville and Gulfport, for investing in employee education and career advancement during an era of particularly high turnover across the limited-service industry.
Mississippi-based Newk's Eatery launched its Online Academy in September 2014 using HotSchedules Train, a social, mobile, cloud-based learning management system powered by Schoox.
The Online Academy educates team members -- from hourly partners to area directors -- about the culture, standards and core processes that drive the brand. Newk's employees can access the interactive and digital learning content via a computer or mobile device. The site includes hands-on training, coursework, tests and instructional videos and management teams can closely support the progress of their staff.
More than 5,000 employees use Newk's Online Academy across the brand's more than 95 restaurants nationwide.
