Alabama fans will be able to buy champion T-shirts at the Shoe Station in D'Iberville -- if the Crimson Tide wins Monday's National College championship football game.
If Clemson wins, the 3,000 T-shirts the company is ordering will be sent back to the vendor and Shoe Station will be out the cost of printing and materials.
Sports Illustrated magazine favors an Alabama win in the championship game. Brent Barkin, Shoe Station executive vice president, said his company and the vendor are confident of an Alabama win "and we are willing to take the risk on behalf of our customers."
Shoe Station managers and employees will be on standby Monday, listening to the game. They will rush to reopen the doors to the stores immediately after a Crimson Tide win and they expect lines outside the stores.
"We anticipate crowds of customers at each of our select locations because Shoe Station will have sent texts and emails to our database of over 100,000 customers," Barkin said. They'll also be using social media.
"It will be a party-like atmosphere," he said.
The D'Iberville store at The Promenade will stay open 30 minutes after a winning game or until merchandise sells out. The two Shoe Station stores in Alabama will stay open one hour after a winning game or until merchandise sells out.
Because Shoe Station is an Alabama-based company, Barkin said, much of its customer demand is for University of Alabama merchandise.
