Rick Gilbrech, director of NASA Stennis Space Center, received the prestigious 2015 Presidential Rank Award for distinguished executive service during a White House ceremony in December. Gilbrech was recognized for key contributions to the nation's Space Shuttle and Space Launch System programs since he began his career with NASA in 1991.

Jeffrey Lacey joined Charter Bank as the president of the Charter Bank Corporation in Biloxi. He is a graduate of Mississippi State University, Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking, Vanderbilt University's Southeastern Commercial Lending School and the University of Oklahoma's ABA Commercial Lending School. Lacey brings 30 years of banking experience to the position.

Sherry Owen, owner and broker of Owen & Co. real estate agency in Gulfport, earned the Accredited Buyer's Representation designation from the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council of the National Association of Realtors.

Firefighters with the Gautier Fire Department completed the National Fire Protection Association 1001 Firefighter I-II course: Samantha Guthrie, Timothy Hermes and Timothy Jones. The seven-week course -- at the Mississippi State Fire Academy in Jackson -- included classroom and hands-on instruction in the areas of fire behavior, fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials and other fire-related topics.

Harry Hewes Jr. of Gulfport was named the associate financial consultant for Regions Bank's airport branch in Gulfport. Hewes earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Mississippi.

Dennis Dollar, a native of Gulfport and principal partner of Dollar Associates in Birmingham, Ala., was voted the Most Influential Credit Union Leader since 1990 by the readers of the Credit Union Times. During his career, Dollar has extensively served the credit and consulting industries in both Mississippi and Alabama.

The Silver Slipper Casino recognized its employees and supervisor of the month for November and December. November: Paula Ezell, buffet, and Pharoah Lyons, hotel, were named Employees of the Month, and Dawn Geest, security, was named Supervisor of the Month. December: Lionel Haynes, facilities, and Cynthia Satchfield, table games, were named Employees of the Month, and Kevin Dresback, food and beverage, was named the Supervisor of the Month. Each honoree received gifts and prizes.
