Mississippi Power finalizes proposed agreement of $22 credit with PSC
Mississippi Power on Wednesday filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission after finalizing an agreement with the Mississippi Public Utilities Staff regarding permanent rates associated the portion of the Kemper County energy facility already in operation.
The agreement still must be approved by the Mississippi Public Service Commission.
Under the proposed agreement, residential customers would get a one-time credit of approximately $22 on their bills, which is the difference between an emergency rate increase collected since August and the rates in the agreement, which would be reduced for residential customers by approximately $4.70 for customers using 1,000 kilowatt hours a month. That is a reduction of about 3-5 percent.
The credit would come within 90 days of the proposal being approved by the PSC.
The proposed agreement was originally announced at the Nov. 10 PSC hearing on the company's Kemper In-Service Asset rate proposal. The company said it expects the PSC to reach a decision on the agreement and the rate proposal on or before Dec. 8.
