Work to begin on former Santa Maria del Mar site
BILOXI -- Barrington Development Group has completed the sale of the former Santa Maria del Mar on Beach Boulevard, according to company spokesman Cono Caranna.
He previously announced the former retirement home that has been empty since Hurricane Katrina 10 years ago will become a luxury hotel.
Caranna said crews will start gutting the building in the next couple of weeks.
