Mississippi Power has earned the 2015 ReliabilityOne Award for outstanding midsize utility.
The award was presented by PA Consulting Group in its annual recognition of the best investor-owned utilities in the United States.
All midsized utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for the award. The selection is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages, plus an on-site certification process.
Mississippi Power had its best year ever for distribution reliability in 2014, when its System Average Interruption Duration Index, or SAIDI, was 55.7 minutes. SAIDI is the average duration of an outage for each customer served.
