First Federal celebrates 60 years of banking

First Federal Savings & Loan commemorates its diamond jubilee Nov. 2-6 at branch offices across South Mississippi.

First Federal will have customer appreciation giveaways and prizes at its Pascagoula headquarters throughout next week and 60-year celebrations on specific days at its five other branches.

The celebrations will be at Gautier on Monday, Moss Point on Nov. 3, Vancleave on Nov. 4, Hurley on Nov. 5 and Ocean Springs on Nov. 6.

Jennifer Garlich, vice president and director of marketing, said the bank also is introducing its Legacy Checking as part of its 60-year celebration. Customers who open a Legacy Checking account will receive a free gift while quantities last.

First Federal was founded in 1955 by six local businessmen for originating mortgage loans and providing insured savings products for residents of South Mississippi. It was the first federally chartered savings and loan association in Jackson County.
