Apple Pay now available at Hancock Bank

GULFPORT -- Hancock Bank on Tuesday launched Apple Pay to give its customers across the Gulf South another high-tech option for free, on-the-go banking.

Bank leaders said the service also offers greater payment security and enhances payment privacy.

"Security is at the core of Apple Pay," said Eric Rietschel, senior vice president, who leads the bank's emerging payments division. "The speed and convenience of the technology are added benefits offering our clients a simpler, easier way to pay."

Customers can link their Hancock Bank Visa debit cards to Apple Pay using the Wallet app on compatible Apple devices. Apple Pay assigns, encrypts and safely stores a unique Device Account Number, which is used with a transaction-specific dynamic security code -- instead of the card number -- during a transaction.

Participating stores and in-app merchants never see the cardholder's name, card number or security code.

Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch at retailers and is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3.
