Ronald Davis of Harrison County and Joseph Stapleton of Long Beach graduated from the Mississippi Executive Fire Officer program at the Mississippi State Fire Academy in Jackson. The program provides senior fire officers and other leaders with an understanding of advanced fire management and administrative skills.

Sonja Gillis, director of marketing and public relations at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport, earned the Senior Practitioner designation from the Southern Public Relations Federation. The Public Relations Association of Mississippi's Beach Chapter nominated Gillis for her exemplary ethical standards and her commitment to the public relations profession.

Ken Brandenburg was promoted to store manager at The Floor Trader in Gautier. Brandenburg has more than 20 years of flooring experience, and he has been with The Floor Trader for nine years.

Jim Bates was named senior vice president and operations manager of Whitney Equipment Finance, a newly formed equipment finance company at Hancock Bank and Whitney Bank. Bates brings equipment finance experience across multiple disciplines to the position.

Matthew Hosey joined Waggoner Engineering as an intern in its Gulfport office. Hosey will be responsible for designing, drafting and assisting with project management. He earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Mississippi.

Marcus Hamilton of Biloxi joined the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce -- Main Street -- Tourism Bureau as its fall intern. Hamilton will be responsible for working alongside the marketing team for special events. He attends Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and is currently majoring in business and marketing management.

Karl Steinberger, attorney with Heidelberg, Steinberger, Colmer and Burrow in Pascagoula, was re-appointed to the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce board of directors for a three-year term. While on the board, Steinberger will serve on the Small Business Issue Management Group that sponsors community-driven activities.

Dennie Mayhone Jr., attorney with Mayhone Elder Law in Ocean Springs, attended the Leading Lawyers on Estate and Long-Term Care Planning Conference in Buffalo, N.Y. During the conference, Mayhone and attorneys across 24 states expanded their professional practice development through discussions, strategic visioning and personal goal setting.
