“They also bought the corner,” Luffey said, which is a small piece of land owned by another company.
Murphy Oil already has an Ocean Springs gas station and convenience store a few miles east near Walmart, and several more in South Mississippi from Pascagoula to Bay St. Louis.
While traffic volume is very high in that part of Ocean Springs, the site also has its challenges. There’s no easy access for those driving east on Bienville or north on Washington Avenue, but the lower price could entice people to adjust their route.
