This new store opens after the 10 a.m. ribbon cutting on Thursday, Jan. 8. It’s right next to the current Goodwill Store at 12057 U.S. 49, in the Orange Grove area of Gulfport, and south of Golden Corral buffet restaurant.
“It’s going to be a separate store,” said Katie Myers, marketing manager for Goodwill of South Mississippi.
The big difference between a traditional Goodwill store and their outlet store is clothes are displayed in bins and sold by the pound. Glassware, books and furniture are priced per item.
“They’re also called the “bins’ store,” Myers said, and shoppers will find a constantly rotating selection of clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods at more deeply discounted prices to sell fast.
“This outlet gives our community another way to shop sustainably, save money and support our mission,” said Vicki Burton, president and CEO of Goodwill of South Mississippi.
This is the 13th Goodwill store in South Mississippi, and like the others, all the proceeds go toward workforce development and changing lives by helping people find work.
“Every purchase made at our outlet helps fund job training, employment programs and career services for individuals right here in South Mississippi,” Burton said.
Donations to this new Goodwill store will be accepted next door at the original store during business hours.
After the grand opening, the new store is open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is closed Sunday and Monday,
