Beau Rivage patron sues, saying a taxi hit and injured her in loading zone

A Beau Rivage Resort & Casino guest has filed a lawsuit against the resort, saying a vehicle struck her in the loading zone and valet area out front.

Jo Kilgore, who is from Florida, says she was walking out of the hotel to the valet area in December 2022. A valet told her to walk across the traffic lanes to her vehicle, the lawsuit says.

As she was crossing the traffic lanes, the lawsuit says, a taxi driver hit her. The lawsuit, filed by attorney Harry McCumber of Jackson, says she suffered a fractured left ankle, which required surgery and physical therapy.

The lawsuit alleges the casino was negligent in maintaining safe conditions in the loading area. The lawsuit says that employees were directing traffic but were not watching out for pedestrians.

Kilgore is seeking unspecified compensation for physical pain and suffering, medical bills, loss of enjoyment of life, and mental and emotional pain, plus attorneys fees and court costs. The lawsuit represents only her side of the case. The Beau Rivage has not had time to file a response.
