Just over 200,000 votes were cast by local residents and more than 580 businesses won an award — either gold, silver or bronze.

Restaurants and bars cover 159 categories, so locals and visitors know where to find the best barbecue (Murky Waters), the best date night spot (Sully’s in Gulfport), the best food truck, (Salty Jax Seafood Co.) and the best outdoor dining (Shaggy’s).

So many people have moved to South Mississippi in the last year or two and, like locals, they want to make sure they know the best physicians by specialty and the best in other categories such as schools, banks, garden centers, lawyers, car dealerships, real estate and other services.
