Here’s when the next ALDI store opens in South MS and how to get in on the giveaways
Eight months after Winn-Dixie closed in D’Iberville, the building is about to reopen as the third ALDI grocery store on the Coast.
Customers who are eager to see what ALDI is all about can get the full shopping experience during a sneak peek on April 23.
The ribbon-cutting and official opening is at 9 a.m. on April 24 and several giveaways are part of the celebration at the store at 10511 D’Iberville Blvd. The store opens to customers after the ceremony.
The giveaways on April 24 include:
▪ The first 100 customers will receive a golden ticket that could be worth up to $100. An ALDI employee will hand out laminated numbered cards.
▪ The first 100 customers will receive a free bag of ALDI products
▪ An ALDI employee will hand out free ALDI shopping totes, while supplies last
▪ From April 24-27, those who come to the store have a chance to win a $500 ALDI gift card. Look for signs inside the store, scan the code and enter to win. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
ALDI has two new stores on the Coast: Ocean Springs and Pascagoula. The D’Iberville store is the first of four former Winn-Dixie stores being converted to ALDI after the German-owned company purchased Southern Grocers and all the Winn-Dixie stores in South Mississippi.
After the D’Iberville store closed in August 2024, the Winn-Dixie stores in Gulfport and Long Beach closed and are becoming ALDI stores. The Winn-Dixie store in Ocean Springs is in its final days and will become a second ALDI store.
Among the biggest differences between ALDI and other grocery stores are that ALDI stores are smaller and don’t carry most national brands. Instead, 90% of the products are an ALDI or other lesser-known brand.
Customers insert a quarter to use a shopping cart and get it back when they return the cart after shopping. Customers also bag their own groceries and pay for bags if they don’t bring their own.
“Customers can expect a quick, easy shopping experience with great products at the lowest possible prices,” ALDI said in a statement to the Sun Herald when the D’Iberville store closed. “Our smaller stores are stocked with only the items customers need so they can get in and out, and our award-winning exclusive brands help shoppers save up to 40% on their groceries without sacrificing quality.”
