Update: Scarlet Pearl Casino floor reopens after issues with surveillance cameras

The casino floor at Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D’Iberville is open again.

A portion of the casino at Scarlet Pearl was closed Monday due to technical difficulties

“They had an issue with their surveillance,” said Jay McDaniel, executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

Whenever surveillance cameras are down, the gaming commission cannot allow gambling in that portion of the casino where there is no video coverage, he said.

About 75% of the floor was affected early Monday afternoon, he said.

Customers reported on Facebook they were escorted from the casino floor and told it will take awhile to make the repairs.

Early Tuesday morning the casino posted on Facebook that it has reopened.

The gaming commission order to close a portion of the casino floor didn’t impact other areas of Scarlet Pearl resort.

The Sun Herald will update this article as information changes.
