The first QuikTrip is opening on the Mississippi Coast, just a few miles from Buc-ee’s
Those driving I-10 in Harrison County soon will have a new travel center to stop at for food and fuel when QuikTrip opens in Harrison County, just west of Gulfport.
The massive gas station is scheduled to open in mid-November.
Construction is nearing completion and the signs are up at the QT, said Eric Nolan, Harrison County zoning administrator. It’s across from the Flying J Travel Center, on the southeast quadrant of the Canal Road exit off the interstate (31).
That’s seven miles east of where a new Buc-ee’s travel center is under construction at exit 24. That travel center is scheduled to open in early 2025.
QT is known for its fast and faster food selections, and for its new app that lets travelers order their food so it’s ready when they arrive. Other options are curbside pickup, grab-and-go selections and made to order meals from the kitchen.
On the breakfast menu are choices like breakfast biscuits, tacos and croissants, or for something different — a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon or sausage and egg.
The lunch and dinner menu includes barbecue sandwiches, mac and cheese, salads, subs, tacos and wraps. Soft pretzels — classic or sprinkled with Parmesan cheese or cinnamon sugar — are a favorite snack, along with specialty drinks and soft serve ice cream and shakes.
The travel center will be open 24 hours a day and also will have QT merchandise, free air for tires and non-ethanol fuel available.
QT, was founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1958 and now has 1,000 stores in 14 states. The first in Mississippi opened early in 2023, and the new location in South Mississippi is one of six being built across the state this year.
The $11 billion company is on the Forbes list of largest privately held companies, and for 14 years it has been ranked by Fortune as one of the best companies to work for.
Local communities benefit from QuikTrip donating 5% of its net profits to charitable organizations, according to its website.
