Saucier lottery winner cashes in on $100,000 jackpot by adding $1 to ticket

A Powerball ticket sold at Keith’s Superstore on U.S. 49 in Saucier is one of two in Mississippi that matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball.

They didn’t win the $700 million jackpot Saturday — nobody did — but the players did win $100,000 each because they spent the extra $1 for the Power Play option.

Since the multiplier was 2, it meant both players turned their $3 investment on a ticket into $100,000 instead of $50,000.

The other ticket was sold at a Shell service station on Church Road in Southaven.

The winning numbers were 2, 8, 15, 19 and 58, and the Powerball was 10.

Monday night’s Powerball drawing has reached an estimated $747 million, making it the fifth largest Powerball jackpot to date, according to the Mississippi Lottery. The cash value is an estimated $403.1 million.

The in-state game Mississippi Match 5 has an estimated jackpot of $880,000 for the next drawing on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

“Unprecedented sales are the reason we decided to increase the estimated jackpot,” said Jeff Hewitt, Mississippi Lottery president.
