Popular MS Coast bookstore and coffee house opens a second location in Gulfport

A popular Pass Christian coffee house and bookstore has expanded and opened shop in another Coast city.

Pass Christian Books and Cat Island Coffee House is one of the most recognizable and Instagrammable businesses along the U.S. 90 beachfront.

The modern building has walls lined with books and is known for its dedication to local authors and custom coffees, pastries, sandwiches and desserts.

The space has large windows and porch overlooking the Pass Harbor and Mississippi sound.

Owners Sean Pittman and Scott Naugle recently opened a second location on Courthouse Road in Gulfport. The space, next to Chuck Kelly Salon, used to house Nezaty’s Café.

“Becoming part of the history and community in what was known as Mississippi City plays well into the experience we hope to create,” Pittman and Naugle said in a press release.

The Gulfport location has a rustic vibe and will offer some different menu items, including a Mississippi City Cold Brew coffee.

“Décor and ambiance mirror the legacy, diversity, and importance of the area in local and state history,” the press release said.

A grand opening event will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with special guest John Cuevas, author of Discovering Cat Island and Lost Gulfport.

Cuevas will sign books and answer questions about Cat Island and the city of Gulfport.
