Chipotle in D’Iberville will have a drive-thru. Here’s how it works and how to order.
With the Mississippi Coast’s first Chipotle opening in the near future, you may want to know more about the unique way Chipotle uses their drive-thru.
Chipotlanes are strictly for online orders.
Chipotle accepts orders through its app or with an online form. Drivers from delivery services like Doordash and Grubhub are also encouraged to use Chipotlanes.
The restaurant chain introduced their Chipotlanes in 2018. Chipotle tested the concept at 10 locations and quickly saw they were on to something. The new drive-thrus increased sales by 65.6% in one quarter. Within a couple of months, dozens of new locations offered Chipotlanes and the company invested in digital ordering.
Chipotlanes really took off during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company introduced “delivery kitchens” dedicated to online orders, tested carside pickup and teamed up with Uber Eats.
The company reported a 15% increase in sales for new restaurants that opened with a Chipotlane compared to non-Chipotlanes opened during the same period.
“By better suiting our restaurants to accommodate the digital business, we’re able to finalize orders more effectively and provide a better overall experience for our guests,” said Curt Garner, chief technology officer.
As of June, Chipotle had more than 3,000 restaurants and more than 100,000 employees. The Mississippi Coast could soon see more Chipotle restaurants. The company set a goal of 7,000 restaurants in the coming years.
