TopGolf is expected to open a $22 million facility an hour from the Mississippi Coast
The city of Mobile is set to land a $22 million TopGolf complex, according to a project agreement between the city and TopGolf.
The Dallas-based entertainment company is expected to break ground on the project in October if it is approved by the Mobile City Council in the coming weeks.
According to the agreement, TopGolf will provide 150 jobs and sit on 9-1/2 acres at the McGowin Park shopping center near Hank Aaron Stadium and Interstate 10.
The facility will feature 60 “hitting bays housed in a multi-story building and will include state of the art golf ball tracking technology, surface targets, mini-golf and outdoor patio area, along with full service restaurant and bar,” according to the agreement.
The city of Mobile has put together an incentive package that requires TopGolf to fulfill it’s 150-job requirement and to work with local and minority vendors.
Mobile is about an hour away from Biloxi. The current closest location to South Mississippi sis about two hours away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
TopGolf is a “sports entertainment complex that features an inclusive, high-tech golf game,” according to their website, and includes climate-controlled driving bays and music.
Mobile County Commissioner Randell Dueitt anticipates the project being completed sometime in 2023, per AL.com.
