Rouses has a new Gentilly cake flavor that may be a perfect summer dessert
There are few Southern desserts more iconic than banana pudding.
It’s one of those staples at many picnics or barbecues that is always a little different, for everyone seems to have their own recipe.
Regardless, there’s something about fresh bananas, crunch vanilla wafers and whipped cream that just screams summer, especially in hot South Mississippi.
And now, Rouses is mashing together a Coast staple with their own popular cake for a new summer treat. The Louisiana-based regional grocery store chain is now selling banana Gentilly cakes for $19.99.
“Indulge in layers of moist yellow cake filled with creamy banana pudding and banana Gentilly icing,” a Rouses Facebook post says and includes a picture of the cake that’s topped with fresh banana.
The post has been shared more than 500 times as of Tuesday morning. If you want to try one, hurry to the Gulfport or Ocean Springs store. The banana Gentilly is only available for a limited time. You can also order them from the bakery department at either store.
