Hoping to win tonight’s $810 Mega Millions lottery jackpot? Here are the odds you’ll have to beat.
So the dream goes like this: Pay $2 for a Mega Millions lottery ticket for the drawing Tuesday night and walk away rich.
But any winners will have to beat incredible odds, 1 in 303 million, to get the third-largest lottery prize in history.
Millions, including people in Mississippi, will try their luck to win the jackpot of $810 million.
But there’s no guarantee there will even be a winner in Tuesday’s drawing.
The reason the grand prize has grown so large is because no one has matched all six numbers in Mega Millions since April. That’s 28 consecutive drawings without someone hitting the jackpot.
With so many people playing now that the potential top prize is so large, it becomes increasingly likely that someone or multiple players will finally end that streak. Still, past prizes have grown larger, as the biggest payday was a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2016.
How much excitement is there about the drawing? So much that Raising Canes’s founder and CEO Todd Graves purchased 50,000 Mega Million’s tickets for his staff. If one of the tickets wins, the prize money would be split among his workers.
“We couldn’t miss out on the chance to win the Mega Millions jackpot and share it with our crew who always stand together,” Graves said in a press release. “We are always looking for ways to bring them a little extra fun...”
The next Mega Millions drawing is at 10 p.m. Tuesday.
