How much for a 12-pack of Coke? See rise in soda prices over 2 years in MS stores.

In 2020, shoppers at Walmart in Waveland could get a 12-pack of Coca-Cola products for less than $5.

The same amount of Coke, Diet Coke or Dr. Pepper costs more than $6 at the store today, and the increase is about the same for Pepsi products.

Inflation, the COVID pandemic and other factors have caused dramatic increased prices on food, drinks other grocery store essentials and household items.

Shoppers see the same increase in cost for sodas at grocery stores on the Mississippi Coast, across the state and around the U.S.

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a 12-ounce can of soda purchased inside of a 12-pack cost about 36 cents in Feb. 2020 at stores in the South. Today, that same 12 ounces costs about 45 cents per can in the Southern region.

A 12-pack of Coke costs $6.28 at Walmart stores on the Mississippi Coast on May 13, compared to $4.98 in December 2020.

This chart shows how soda costs have increased over the last two years.
