4 Coast restaurants cited for health violations. 2 failed inspections more than once.
Four restaurants in South Mississippi were cited for critical health violations in the last few weeks, with one failing the inspection twice and another failing three times.
Between March 18 and April 6, these restaurants scored C grades from the state health department for violations:
Sai Chevron at 8413 Woolmarket Road in Biloxi had a scheduled inspection on March 18. The food service had no certified manager and improper date marking and disposition. It also was cited for inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat offense. Corrected during the inspection was hot holding temperatures.
During a follow-up inspection March 28, the kitchen got another C for having no certified manager, for again having inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible and for not having last report posted.
Corrected during the inspection were proper date marking and disposition and also time as public health control, procedures, records, which limits the time a food can be kept at room temperature before it is used or discarded.
The inspector returned a third time on April 6 and the restaurant scored a B after all violations were corrected.
The last C at the facility was in 2018.
Church’s Chicken at 2321 Pass Road, Gulfport, was inspected March 25 for a permit renewal and got a C for inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat offense.
On a follow-up inspection March 6, the restaurant got another C for not having the last inspection report and grade posted.
Most restaurants post the grade from the Health Department near the door or cash register.
The restaurant’s last C was in September 2021.
Clark’s Subway at 10006 Canal Road, Gulfport, had a scheduled inspected March 21 and was cited for having no certified manager.
A follow-up inspection was conducted March 30 and the restaurant was given a B after the violation for certified manager was corrected and properly eating, tasting, drinking or tobacco use and not having last inspection report posted were corrected during the inspection
This was the first C since 2018.
Having no certified manager has been a common citation, as restaurants report getting help remains a challenge since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
Sandbar Daiquiri Bar & Grill at 835 Vieux Marche, Biloxi, had a scheduled inspection March 31 ant it was cited for having no certified manager.
The only other C was in 2021.
Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.
Between March 18 and April 6, inspectors gave 181 As to restaurants in South Mississippi and 32 Bs, in addition to these six Cs.
