A popular New Jersey sandwich chain is opening its first sub shop on the MS Coast
The first Jersey Mike’s sandwich restaurant on the Coast is opening at The Promenade in D’Iberville.
The sign is up in the building near the east entrance to The Promenade, near Target.
It is next to Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. In the same building are Chicken Salad Chick and Owyhee Bowl — creating a sort of food court — so friends or family who like different kinds of food can order their favorites for take-out.
A remodeling permit for $180,000 was issued to CBL, the company that owns The Promenade, just off I-10 in D’Iberville.
Branded as “A Sub Above” on its commercials, Jersey Mike’s is headquartered in New Jersey. The company website says it offers “Northeast-style cold sub sandwiches sliced fresh in front of you.”
The franchise has about 2,000 locations.
The menu features 12 kinds of hot hoagies, like a buffalo chicken cheesesteak and a grilled portabella mushroom and Swiss cheese sub.
They also have 14 cold subs, such as the original Italian with provolone cheese, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni.
Stubborn soda, with no high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners or flavors, is on the drinks list and iconic Tastykake cupcakes and sweets, favored throughout the Northeast and now available on the Coast, are among the desserts.
It is not clear when Jersey Mike’s will open its doors.
