GasBuddy, an app that allows drivers to update prices of fuel at gas stations in real time, has the Gulfport truck stop’s regular unleaded listed for a cash price of $3.05 on Tuesday.
The price was uploaded by a user named lehais on Monday, according to GasBuddy. The same user listed the cash price for premium at $3.73 per gallon.
A fuel attendant at Flying J confirmed to the Sun Herald that the cash prices are incorrect on the GasBuddy app and the company has been working toward a fix.
Regular unleaded fuel at the travel center off the Canal Road Exit on Interstate 10 is going for $4.19 per gallon. It’s one of the most expensive places for gas on the Coast.
One of the other priciest gas stations in South Mississippi is the Love’s truck stop about 3 miles west on I-10. Fuel there was going for $3.97 on Monday.
Fuel costs are rising across Mississippi and the rest of the U.S. and are breaking records high. Experts believe prices are going to surge even more in the coming days as tensions heat up with Russia over the invasion of Ukraine.
