At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, many Mississippi shoppers turned to online ordering or delivery and pickup options for groceries.
Are you still relying on Instacart, Amazon or Walmart pickup, or are you back shopping inside stores like Rouses, Winn-Dixie, Froogel’s or all of the others?
While some have grown to like digital ordering or not having to get out of their vehicles at the store to get groceries, others are back to in-person shopping. ALDI will open in Ocean Springs soon, and Coast residents have said they want more supermarket options, including Trader Joe’s, Publix and Costco.
If you’ve noticed the aisles at supermarkets have been busier since the New Year, you’re right. More people flocked to stores for in-person shopping in December 2021 and January 2022 compared to most other months during the pandemic, data from Safe Graph shows.
