A vote in Jackson could raise your wind insurance rates. Tell us how you feel about it.

A decision three hours away could result in homeowners on the Mississippi Coast having to pay more for wind insurance — up to 23% more.

Lawmakers in Jackson could approve taking millions from the wind pool fund and divert it to State and School Employees’ Insurance fund, which was hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If that happens, residents in South Mississippi’s six southernmost counties — which includes Hancock, Harrison and Jackson — will be on the hook to pay more to insure their homes as hurricane season looms.

We want to hear from you about how a rise in insurance premiums would affect your life on the Coast.

Take our survey and let us know how you feel about the Senate bill.
