A Chick-fil-A restaurant on the Coast closes its dining room during COVID spike in MS
A few days before Christmas, management at the Chick-fil-A at The Promenade in D’Iberville was able to open the newly-remodeled dining room.
The new dining room was closed a few days after New Year’s Day because a spike in coronavirus cases as the highly-contagious omicron variant rages in Mississippi.
“This is really temporary,” management said in a Facebook post announcing the closure.
The drive through, mobile carry-out and third party delivery remain open.
“We have made the difficult decision to close our dining room on Tuesday, January 4, 2022,” the post said. “Thank you for being patient with us as we make the safety of our team members and our guests a priority.”
It’s been a difficult time for restaurants, particularly fast food restaurants that have limited space in their dining rooms for social distancing.
When COVID-19 cases dropped after the summer, the restaurants didn’t have enough staff to man the drive-through and the dining rooms, so many locked their dining rooms because of worker shortages and went with drive-through and delivery only.
“We loved having our guests inside our new dining room,” the Facebook post said. “We are working diligently in hopes that we can re-open sooner rather than later.”
