Coast city’s new Taco Bell will be the 1st of its kind in US, mayor says. What to know
You’ve seen them (and may have ordered from them) at Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s.
Now, Taco Bell will introduce its first double drive-thru window at the new location being built in a busy shopping area of Diamondhead, Mayor Nancy Depreo said Wednesday.
The city’s planning and zoning commission approved the drive-thru at a meeting Tuesday night and also heard opposition from at least one business nearby.
Diamondhead True Value hardware store was concerned about losing parking sports and added traffic in an area of the city that already suffers heavy congestion.
“The commission spent several hours discussing the project and in the end, they added conditions to their motion to assist with traffic and True Value,” Depreo said on Facebook. “The developer will work with the building department to get the project moving forward.”
B&G Food Enterprises, LLC will open the restaurant at 4405 Aloha Drive. The fast food chain will be near Rouse’s grocery store and other restaurants and businesses just off Interstate 10 in the Hancock County city.
Depreo said the architect for the project told the commission that the double drive-thru will be the first of its kind for Taco Bell.
“We are making history in Diamondhead with our new Taco Bell,” she said.
