Gulfport company plans $2.1M investment and new jobs to fulfill Navy contract
Seemann Composites in Gulfport will see a $2.1 million investment and expansion to fulfill a new contract with the U.S. Navy.
The marine project will create 35 jobs over the next three years, the company said in a press release Tuesday.
The company will construct a 16,000-square-foot addition onto the existing 160,000-square-foot facility at 12481 Glascock Drive, off Seaway Road and I-10 in Gulfport.
Mississippi Development Authority is providing financial assistance for construction of the addition.
The new contract is to produce high-tech composite components for the Navy, said MDA Interim Director John Rounsaville.
Seemann Composites developed its own vacuum-infusion technology, known as Seemann Composites Resin Infusion Molding Process, which is used worldwide.
The company was founded on its research and development innovation after founder Bill Seemann spent decades building fiberglass boats and distributing composite materials in the Gulf Coast region.
This is the sixth expansion at Seemann Composites, said Frankie Castiglia Jr.,president of the Harrison County Development Commission board.
