The Dock Bar & Grill on Seaway Road in Gulfport will open only for special events, the owner announced on social media.

It’s been part of family dinners and celebrations for years and now The Dock Bar & Grill is closed as a full-service restaurant.

The announcement of the closing was posted on social media. It says the restaurant on Seaway Road in Gulfport will remain open only as a venue for large weddings, reunions and fundraisers.

Customers responded with comments like, “We have loved coming for years and look forward to the good food, spirits and music on the pretty deck overlooking the lake. Thank you for all the great memories.”

Owned by John Dane, The Dock has hosted or been part of a variety of special events. Race village for Smokin’ The Sound was at The Dock when the speedboat race was held on the lake.

The restaurant also hosted the annual Kayaking for a Kause and the Dragon Boat races and it was where hundreds of people gathered to watch the beginning and end of the parade during Christmas on the Bayou.

The website said The Dock provided the freshest seafood, great views and live music. Customers would arrive by car or boat for specialties like Smugglers Cove Redfish, oysters, fried green tomatoes and crawfish boils.
