What’s you favorite holiday tradition? Is it watching “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation?” How about making sugar cookies with the family? For many, the holidays center around a press-rib shaped pork sandwich slathered with BBQ sauce, pickles and raw onions.
Much like holiday movies and TV shows, many food chains provide their own holiday cheer with limited-time only offerings. Here’s what you can look forward to this Christmas in South Misisssippi.
Christmas Tree Frappuccino
Starbucks is no stranger to limited edition holiday fare. This is, after all, the home of the pumpkin spice latte.
The chain is offering peppermint mochas, caramel brulee lattes and toasted white mochas alongside their many holiday flavors such as gingerbread and eggnog.
They also have the Christmas Tree Frappuccino, which is only available until Dec. 11. Food & Wine reports the chilled drink is a “Peppermint Mocha Creme base that represents the trunk of the tree. To get the green part atop that, Starbucks is using matcha whipped cream in the familiar conical swirl to emulate the shape of an evergreen. That ‘tree’ is decorated with a ‘garland’ of caramel sauce and ornaments that are actually candied cranberries. To top it off, the tree topper is a slice of strawberry.
The drink, however, does not contain any actual trees or tree parts.
Holiday Mint Master Shake
The frozen treat from Sonic features a blend of mint flavor and Oreo pieces finished with a whipped cream.
Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshake
The Chick-fil-a seasonal favorite returns. Its a blend of Chick-fil-A Icedream, peppermint, chocolate chips, topped with whipped cream and a cherry.
The Holiday Pie
McDonald’s brings back the Holiday Pie, which is a hot vanilla-custard filled into a sugar cookie crust and topped with sprinkles.
Gingerbread Glazed Donut
Krispy Kreme continues its line of holiday glazed donuts with a gingerbread variety. The ginger and warm spice-infused donut is covered in a molasses glaze. It is only available on Dec. 12.
The elusive pork sandwich may not be filled with sugar and spice, but it is only available once a year at participating McDonald’s. It’s a modern day Christmas tradition.
