BILOXI -- Edgewater Christian Fellowship Church began inside the Gulf Coast Rescue Mission in 2000, with just a handful of people.
The church grew and built a sanctuary, offices and meeting space near the mission in 2007. The building on 5 acres at 2750B Mission Lane still has room for growth.
Senior pastor Troy Lanham and praise and worship pastor Terry Mott work with church members to reach the people on the Coast.
"At ECFC, we are a family church," Lanham said. "We believe in loving God and his people. Our church is not a model for excellence or perfection. We are, however, a place where the shortcomings of our human nature are brought out in the open and then faced head-on and dealt with."
The women of the church meet every other Tuesday at 10 a.m. for fellowship, and invite all interested women to join them.
A nursery is provided for all regular services and children are always welcome.
The church recently started a new ministry for people in their 20s and 30s and that group will have meetings throughout the summer.
The staff is organizing a special event for the Memorial Day weekend. Call the church office for details.
The church is open to all people who seek God, Mott said.
"We are all God's children and have fallen short of the glory of God," Mott said.
