Gulfport Galleria of Fine Arts offers 'Glimpse of Gulfport History'

A "Glimpse of Gulfport History" will add a fascinating dimension to The Gulfport Galleria of Fine Arts' Eighth Annual Christmas Celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Galleria, in the Historic Carnegie Library, 1300 24th Ave., in downtown Gulfport.

The celebration is co-hosted by the Historical Society of Gulfport, the Gulfport Main Street Association and several sponsors.

"A Glimpse of Gulfport History" will include images from the photography collection of Paul Jermyn, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Museum of Historical Photography and the vintage post card collection of Austin Lindsey.

In addition, works by member artists will be on display and available for purchase. They include original paintings, photography, hand-built clay sculptures, clay carving and wheel-thrown pottery, wood turnings, stained glass, jewelry, books, hooked rugs, carved Katrina tree sculptures and prints and note cards.
