‘My whole life is made right now.’ 2 country stars ate king cake from this Coast bakery
A Gulf Coast bakery known for its stuffed king cakes during Mardi Gras got to share their sweet treats with two country music superstars.
Ahead of their Jan. 17 show in Biloxi, singers Miranda Lambert and Cody Johnson received Mardi Gras goodies and Quality Bakery king cakes to welcome them to the Coast.
“To say my whole life is made right now is an understatement!” Danielle White, the Gulfport bakery’s owner, said in a Facebook post. “To say me and Mandi HOLLLEEERRRREEEDDDD IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!!!!”
Lambert was unable to take pictures at the time, but she did receive the cake. Quality Bakery wrote a special message on Lambert’s box: “Enjoy this cake from the bakery that built me.” The message is a play on Lambert’s popular 2009 song “The House that Built Me.”
Johnson and crew members posed for pictures with a cake, and Johnson made a video call to the bakery to thank them for the sweet gift.
Kristin Stachura Allen, a Realtor at Busch Realty Group, helped coordinate the effort. Her husband, Neal Allen, is a Biloxi police officer, and Lambert, Johnson and the band are supportive of law enforcement. Johnson and Neal Allen first met several months ago, Kristin Allen said.
The band wasn’t able to eat the cake straight away, but they finally got to eat some slices after the show, she said.
“They had never eaten king cake before!” she said. “They loved it.”
