Mud will fly this Labor Day weekend in the Kiln with the 13th annual ATV Mudfest.

The Mudfest is a family-friendly event filled with exciting competition and summertime fun. The festival is Friday through Monday at Muddy Joe’s Off Road & RV Park, 1260 Road 326.

The ATV and truck competitions will take place from 7 p.m.-until on Friday and all day Saturday, beginning with a 9 a.m. registration. Sunday and Monday the park will be open for regular riding and activities.

The competitions offer a collective $10,000 in prize money divided among the events that promise to test might and driving maneuvers.

Events include timed ATV barrel racing, the mega-truck mudder cross, championship mud racing and a truck tug-of-war. On Saturday, contestants will test the might of their trucks and driving skills with a prize of $2,500 for anyone who can traverse Muddy Joe’s bounty hole.

Saturday also features a bikini contest with a top prize of $1,000 and a 9 p.m. concert with Colt Ford and a surprise opening act. Ford’s music combines his love of old-school rap and classic spoken-word country. His most popular songs range from his debut single “No Trash in My Trailer” to his Jason Aldean duet “Drivin’ Around Song,” and favorites such as “Cold Beer” and “Ride Through the Country.”

Stacey Magnusen, owner of Muddy Joe’s, said the competitive events and other family activities make this a standout event.

“With the concert and truck racing and camping and riding, it’s just one of the biggest festivals of the year,” Magnusen said.

Throughout the weekend, Muddy Joe’s ATV trails will offer non-competitive riding. Guests may bring their own ATVs. Rentals require a $300 deposit and prices are $100 and up. Riders must be 21 or older.

The pool, beach and rope swing will be available all weekend. Also, concessions, vendors, and ice will be available for purchase.

Admission is $60 for a four-day pass, $50 for Saturday through Monday, $20 for Sunday and Monday, and $35 for a Saturday concert pass. Ages 10 and younger are admitted free.
