Ocean Springs Cotillion ball will recognize achievements

The Ocean Springs Cotillion Organization Ball will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ocean Springs Civic Center, 3730 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs.

The ball is a formal event where the group's 200 members, made up of girls in 10th-12th grades, are recognized for their efforts throughout the year, and the top nine girls with the most community service hours are put into the spotlight.

"This is the event where we reminisce on the memorable and joyous times through the year and look back on our accomplishments through slideshows, dancing and dressing up," according to a press release from Kylie Tuttle, president of the Ocean Springs Cotillion Organization.

The organization's officers are new member chairman Shae Pisarich 11th grade; community service chairman Karley Bishop, 11th grade; corresponding secretary Savannah Crew, 12th grade; president Tuttle, 12th grade.

Some charities the organization has worked with include, but are not limited to: The Lord is My Help, The Epilepsy Foundation, Jackson County Animal Shelter, ASPCA, Gulf Coast Women's Shelter for Non-Violence, Community Care Network, Sue's Home, Ocean Springs School District, Dutchess Club Doll & Toy Drive, Operation Gratitude, Backpack Buddies and Aeropostale Jeans for Teens.

The ball will include a raffle for baskets of items, and all donations will benefit Prayers for Natalie to benefit the family of Natalie Hightower, a teen from the Vancleave School District, who died of cancer in September last year.
