The Sun Herald is going to crown the MS Coast’s cutest cat. Here’s how to enter

The dogs have had their fun. Now it’s the cats’ turn.

With Shug crowned as the Mississippi Coast’s cutest dog, it’s time to name a feline winner. Is your cat the cutest on the Coast? Would you like to see your very good boy or girl celebrated by the Sun Herald?

If so, you’re in luck – we are, again, looking for the Mississippi Coast’s cutest cat.

With more than 24,000 votes in the final round, Salem earned the title of cutest cat on the Mississippi Coast in 2025.

Readers should submit a photo of their cat, along with a one-sentence description including name and breed, to mynews@sunherald.com. The deadline for submissions is the end of the day on Sunday, July 5.

Any reader can submit their dog for the contest, and anyone can vote. Once voting opens, subscribers may vote as many times as they wish. To subscribe, visit sunherald.com/subscribe for a list of offers, including an introductory rate of $1.99 for the first month.

Voting is expected to begin Monday, July 6 and there will be two rounds of polling to determine a winner.
