Cat's Greeting for New Kitten Looks Like an 'SNL' Sketch

Introducing a new furry member of the family doesn't always go the way we hope-especially with cats. The hard, cold reality is that sometimes, our resident kitty isn't interested in sharing their humans, food, or attention in general. This hits close to home for a cat named Pearl, and when she spotted her new little brother, Hank, lounging on HER mom, abd she had the funniest reaction!

so somebody may have gotten a new brother recently…. and it's going about as well as you'd expect… (we will officially introduce him to you guys so soon!) #fypシ゚viral#foryoupage#catsoftiktok#fyp#foryou

The hilarious greeting caught on camera feels like a scene from Stepbrothers, and Pearl is the star! How could Hank have the audacity to nap so menacingly without running it by her first?! As cute as he is, she doesn't give a fluff-this is her house, and he wasn't invited.

Fans of Pearl were quick to post pictures in the comments with silly embellishments. In one photo, she's crying while wearing a diamond tiara and gasping behind some long pink acrylics, and in many others, it's a freeze-frame of her "nope" face. For anyone with a sibling, they're all a little too relatable!

If, like me, you're concerned with how well Pearl's adjusting since the first intro, or how sweet Hank will fare with having to face his big sister, I have some news. Not only is the little kitten doing well, but he's also kind of the big boss now (sorry, Pearl):

I love that she understands that she shouldn't bite hard or use her claws- maybe she actually is starting to like him Remember to vote for our Pearl girl!! Link in b!o! #fypシ゚viral#foryoupage#catsoftiktok#fyp#foryou

Introducing a New Kitten to Family

Pearl was in her own right to feel however slighted she felt at the time, and any pet parent with multiple companions knows that it eventually evens out.

To help prevent such a cold reaction, take the initial interactions slowly and keep the kitties separated. Over the course of days, slowly introduce items with the other's scent on it so they can get used to their new friend hanging around, and a week or two in, move the food bowl close to the door so they begin associating good things with the newbie.

It's been a hot minute since Pearl first hissed at Hank, and just as the update shows, he's fully capable of holding his own!
