Watching This Newfoundland Walk His Human Sister to School Through the Years Is Bittersweet

Some people say we don't deserve dogs, and honestly, videos like this TikTok from @chewythenewfie make it hard to argue with them. The love and loyalty many pups show their humans can be overwhelming in the best possible way.

Chewy, the Newfoundland, has been part of his family for over four years, and from the very beginning, he formed a special bond with his human sister. Recently, his mom shared a heartwarming compilation of Chewy walking her to school on the first day of each school year, and I'll admit, it got me a little choked up.

It's easy to get caught up in our busy lives and forget that, for our pets, we are their entire world. For Chewy, that bond started the moment he came home, and it's clear that being by his family's side has always been his favorite thing.

Many people know Chewy from the sweet videos he shares with his 96-year-old great-grandma, but this compilation with his sister might be my favorite yet. Watching the years pass as Chewy faithfully stays by her side is a beautiful reminder of how deeply dogs love the people they call family. They're only with us for a small part of our lives, but to them, we're everything-and that's exactly why they deserve a little extra love every day.

Sweet Reactions From Chewy's Followers

Dogs are a big part of many people's lives, and the memories of a childhood pet never really fade. Some of this family's viewers were a little sad while watching this video because it reminded them of their childhood pets and how special that time was in their lives.

TikToker @Sage said, "My boy walked me through middle school, high school, 2 college degrees, and my wedding. He passed a week after I got home from my honeymoon. My dad said, 'He held on long enough to make sure someone else would take care of you now.' " Chewy's mom replied, "Stop it. That just made me cry!"

Another fan, @AlexandraDiaz, mentioned, "My childhood dog walked me to our yard gate and back every day for school from 1st grade to my senior year. He passed my senior year. I'm 37 now, and I still miss him."

My childhood dog was a Cockapoo named Rocky. One time, he was voted the World's Friendliest Dog at a neighborhood pet show, and he truly was. We were so lucky to have him in our lives.
