No one knows this better than @mad86806, a Houston, Texas, dog mom and volunteer who's dedicated to helping euthanasia-listed dogs find their perfect forever homes.
For this rescue advocate, the moment a dog finally feels safe is the best part of the job. She experienced this special milestone with a scared shelter dog named Olive on June 5, and it will have a special place in her heart for the rest of her life. @mad86806 I've been volunteering for over 5 years now and this moment is probably one of the best moments I've ever had at any shelter. Olive was absolutely PETRIFIED as you can see in my previous video, and the fact that she felt safe enough after just a few minutes together to lay her head on my chest really reminded my why I volunteer. Sometimes, all these dogs need is a few minutes of your time to show you the best side of themselves. To have been wronged by so many humans yet still lay your head on their chest is one of the many reasons I love dogs and why I think we could learn a few lessons from them. My heart broke seeing how stressed-out this rescue dog was, but knowing that a pro like @mad86806 was there for her was the perfect consolation. Between her friend's encouragement, her safe environment, and her recent social media stardom, it was only a matter of time until she caught the eye of an adopter or rescue.
The Texas shelter volunteer also posted a video of Olive's transformation from nervous to cuddly, accompanied by Noah Kahan's "Orbiter" in the background. This video quickly gathered over 11 million views, and the musician himself even left a heartfelt comment.

"There are very few things more noble than helping innocent animals find loving homes," wrote Kahan. "Thank you for your work."
Thanks to Mad's hard work and Olive's viral fame, rescues began to reach out about the scared shelter dog. She found a foster home through Strong Paw Rescue just a few days after reaching Internet stardom, and no one is happier for her than her friends at the shelter.
