Netflix Quietly Removing Canceled Show With Perfect Score on Rotten Tomatoes
Netflix creates over 700 original titles every year, but that doesn't stop the streaming giant from licensing shows from other platforms to ensure its more than 200 million monthly users get enough content.
Nearly a year ago, Netflix reached a deal to stream Prime Video hit Sneaky Pete.
"Giovanni Ribisi plays the role of Marius, a con man who tries to leave his old life behind by assuming the identity of his cell mate, Pete," reads the synopsis of the show.
"While Pete's family doesn't have reason to suspect that he is not their long-lost loved one, they are a colorful group with their own secrets and lies that could make life as dangerous as the world Marius was hoping to escape. Marius must find a way to keep his lies from backfiring as he deals with unexpected situations that come his way."
The show initially hit Netflix in the United States on July 10, 2025, but will soon be leaving the streaming platform.
'Sneaky Pete' Leaving Netflix on July 10
"In Phase One, Sneaky Pete touched down in English-speaking territories between July 10th and 11th, 2025. Exactly one year later, those rights are expiring," What's on Netflix wrote while revealing the departure dates:
- Australia and the United Kingdom will see the series depart on July 9th, 2026.
- The United States and Canada will see the series removed on July 10th, 2026.
Just two weeks later, Netflix is expected to end its series in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden, or Switzerland on either July 25 or 26.
The show received a strong 97% from critics after its first season, a 92% after its second season and the third and final season received a perfect 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Audiences have just one month left to stream all 30 episodes of the beloved show before it leaves Netflix.
