WWE Drops Major Hint That Brock Lesnar Is Retired
WWE has dropped a fascinating hint that Brock Lesnar's illustrious career is indeed over.
After losing to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42, Lesnar took off his boots and signature gloves, leaving them in the ring. He hugged his longtime manager, Paul Heyman, and broke character by acknowledging the fans before departing backstage.
It was a strong indicator that the 48-year-old had retired. But with the WWE Backlash pay-per-view just one day away, there still isn't official word on Lesnar's future in the squared circle.
As noted by Shounak Chakrabarti of F4WOnline.com, Lesnar has been assigned to the WWE.com alumni section.
This doesn't confirm anything, but it strongly indicates that the former UFC star is retired from in-ring action. It's standard practice for WWE.com to move a wrestler to the alumni section if when they leave the company or retire altogether.
With 10 world championships and two Royal Rumble victories to his credit, Lesnar is a surefire WWE Hall of Famer.
This Is the Right Time for Brock Lesnar to Retire
There are many cases of wrestling legends dragging out their retirements and/or having disappointing final matches. In Brock Lesnar's case, it's hard to think of a better way to conclude his in-ring career.
Lesnar did the right thing by putting over a younger talent in Oba Femi, who's well on his way to becoming a main event star in WWE. Lesnar shared an emotional moment with Heyman and received a thunderous ovation from the crowd. The script to retire cannot have been written any better.
Even if Lesnar has it in his mind that he wants to retire, WWE could always tempt him to wrestle again with a lucrative contract offer. But with how everything played out at WrestleMania 42, it's obvious that Lesnar's best bet is to ride off into the sunset.
