Summer home style is all about channeling the refreshed, relaxing feel of the season in our spaces. This year, though, that isn't just through the usual light-and-airy coastal palettes or bright, perfectly curated but stiff interiors. Instead, a new trends report from Yelp finds homeowners and renters are reimagining their spaces to blend self-expression with purpose.

"Summer 2026 is the season for reimagining what 'home' looks and feels like," Yelp's 2026 Summer Home Trends Report explains. As people prioritize comfort and individuality in their spaces this summer, they're getting creative, opting for stylish yet livable design choices.

With summer right around the corner, these are the trends Yelp predicts you're about to see more of during the season.

2026 Summer Home Trends, According to Yelp

Built-In Design

For smart storage, reading nooks, dream closets and more, Yelp found people are increasingly leaning into built-in design features to maximize space in homes and apartments. In fact, the platform found searches for built-in cabinets are surging by a whopping 13,389 percent.

Midimalism

Chances are, you've heard of maximalism and minimalism. Now "midimalism," which is the middle ground between the two, is on the rise. Inside and out, you can expect to see character-filled touches through pattern and joyful accents that are still functional and comfortable. From whimsical wallpaper to cushions with playful patterns, it's dopamine decorating that's intentional.

Homes With Leisure

2026 has been the year of the analog revival, and this summer, homes are reflecting that comeback with spaces dedicated to connection and hobbies. From game rooms (up in search by 70 percent), music-focused listening rooms and backyard theater installations (up an incredible 4,288 percent), rooms reimagined for hosting and leisure are top of mind.

Window Upgrades

Whether you live in an apartment or house, upgrading windows is something everyone can do. That's why it's no surprise window treatments like layered curtains, custom drapes, shades and blinds are all trending as an "easy and often affordable [way] to achieve a polished, professional finish."

Color-Maxxing

Color drenching has been a popular home trend for a while, and people are continuing to go all in on it inside and outside their spaces. Searches for ceiling painters are up an incredible 16,884 percent, and everywhere from ceilings, doors and trim to outdoor spots like decks and porches are all getting splashes of color for summer.

Painted Trim

Painted trim is becoming a popular way to make a statement that's also a low-commitment upgrade. It's noticeable, bringing a surprising pop of color to a room, but doesn't require going all out as color drenching does.
