If you’ve already watched “Frozen” and declared a snowball fight winner, here are a few ideas to keep the rugrats busy before this snow day starts feeling like a snow week.

Dance party clean up

This one may be hard to coax older children into trying, but it’s always worth a shot. Crank up your favorite dance tunes and get everyone to pick up toys and clean up the house as you rock out and dance. Make it interesting with timers to see who can pick up the most in a designated period or make each round (or song) include a new rule like hopping on one foot or screaming the lyrics.

Play balloon Olympics

Start with volleyball. The net can be anything from a stack of pillows to a couple of chairs. For an added level of difficulty, play balloon tennis and have each child either come up with their own ideas for rackets, use real rackets, or make them out of paper plates and popsicle sticks.

Bake or cook with your kitchen helpers

Heavenlyhomemakers.com suggested making snowflake quesadillas. Use kitchen scissors or a knife to cut out shapes in a folded flour tortilla. Open the finished snowflake up and use it as the top of a quesadilla. Keep the bottom tortilla solid to hold the shredded cheese and other fillings.

Bake and decorate cookies, or stick bowls outdoors to catch falling snow and make snow ice cream.

Have fun with chemical reactions

Mommy Poppins has a list of 50 science experiments you can do with children using household items.. For example, mix baking soda, food coloring, glitter and vinegar to watch the glitter explode. A lava lamp only has three ingredients: vegetable oil, water and Alka-Seltzer. You can make your own slime with borax and glue.

Stick to the classics

Build a fort with blankets and pillows, use it for story time. Or spread a few pillows on the floor and play the “floor is lava.”

Do the dishes

Let them wash plastic dishes in a sink filled with tons of bubbles.

Do arts and crafts

Make cards for friends and family. Mix together food coloring and shaving cream for bath and shower paints. Watch YouTube Kids tutorials on drawing or age-appropriate craft projects. Here are a few: DarwinGeek’s easy drawing for kids Magic Fingers Art’s drawing tutorials

Play salon

Paint nails and do each others hair. Hold a pageant once everyone is dolled up.

Create a scavenger hunt

You can give them a list of items to do or tasks to complete.
